Just because I like
To write poetry
Doesn’t mean I have
To wear scarves
And hang out in coffee shops
Drink red wine
And wander art galleries
It doesn’t mean
I have to read books
About Mary Cassatt
And use superfluous diction
In everyday speech
Just because I like
To write poetry
Doesn’t mean I have
To wear silly hats
And shop in dusty
Bookstores
And eat pretentious food
And walk alone in the rain
Daydreaming about Utopia
But you know what?
It sure is fun
