Planned Parenthood

On Friday the House voted to strip funding for Planned Parenthood. I'm not going to reiterate what has been printed in a thousand newspapers, so here is a link to one: House Targets Planned Parenthood

Missouri Congressman Billy Long said in an email "Planned Parenthood is one of the largest providers of abortions in the U.S, and I believe in the sanctity of human life and protecting the rights of the unborn. Taxpayer dollars should not support organizations that show such a flagrant disregard for human life."

Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, Planned Parenthood does so much more than this, and does so because Planned Parenthood cares for our citizens. This is not a disregard for human life. This is a method to keep citizens safe, citizens who may not have the means to take care of such things on their own.

To take away funding from this company is not good for the American people. At a time when so many US citizens (myself included) do not have health insurance coverage we need to support organizations like Planned Parenthood even more. For some people this is the only way they get any medical screening at all.

Young women and men all over the country need the protection Planned Parenthood provides through birth control and safer sex measures, and through cancer screenings and other health care tests. Planned Parenthood is helping people remain healthy and clean and we need to support this organization.
